Apple did not announce a standard iPhone 18 at its September event. Only the Pro models were launched. The base iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e are expected in the first half of 2027.
Reasons to buy a Pro now
- You want the newest hardware and cameras today.
- Your current phone is failing, slow or no longer gets updates.
- You plan to keep the phone for four or more years, so a higher upfront price spreads over a long time.
Reasons to wait
- You mainly need a reliable everyday phone and don’t need Pro features.
- You want to spend noticeably less. Standard models usually cost much less than the Pro versions.
- Prices on current models often drop when new ones arrive.
A middle route
If you want to save money but can’t wait until 2027, look at last year’s iPhone models, which are often discounted once a new range is out. Compare the cash price and the contract price before you decide.
Release dates for unannounced phones are expectations, not confirmed dates.
Decide by how long you need to wait and what you actually use, not by the newest name.
